Want to own a piece of history.  Each of these pens are just that, a small piece of history.  Maybe wood from the White House or a historical battleships, a little bit of everything for the history buff.

The USS Texas, the second in the US Navy to be named in honor of the state of Texas, is a New York-class battleship.  The ship was commissioned on March 12, 1914.  Soon after commissioning, the Texas saw action in the Mexican waters and made numerious sorties in the North Sea during World War I.  Whem the US formally entered WWII in in 1941, Texas excorted war convoys across the Atlantic and later shelled Axis-helded beaches for the North African campaign and the Normandy landings.  Texas was tranferred to the Pacific theater later in 1944 to provide gunfire protection during the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

Texas was decomissioned in 1948 having earned a total of five battle stars for service in World War II, and is now a museum ship in Houston, TX.

Among the world's remaining battleship,  Texas is notable for being the first US battleship to become a perminant museum ship, and the first battleship declared to be a National Historic Landmark.  Texas is the only remaining World War I era dreadnought battleship.  She is one of the only seven remaining ships the only remaining capital ship to have served in both World Wars.
